Alison Campbell

My name is Alison. I am a chocoholic.

Are you inordinately fond of chocolate?
Yes. Absolutely!

Chocolate. Incentive or reward? Or both?
Chocolate for me is a necessary part of everyday life...I both reward and  nurture myself with this amazing food.
I love to share my passion for chocolate with those who want to journey deeper into its mysterious qualities and discerning taste variances.

When did you know you were a chocoholic?
When I first licked the spoon making chocolate cake with my mother as a bright eyed, country girl.

White, milk or dark?
This is a big question…depending upon the brand and origin of the chocolate and my mood…however if it has to be one, the more I develop my appreciation of quality chocolate, the more I choose dark.  A square or three is all I need and it melts so beautifully and fully in my mouth and immediately lifts my stamina and puts a smile on my face!

Describe your favourite chocolate in three words….
Rich, dark and natural.

Tell us about your most memorable chocolate experience?
I’ll share two of many….the first …climbing Mt Warning and meditating on the top of this powerful outcrop with a very rewarding chocolate moment and a glass of champagne to celebrate with my favourite companions.
The second…after performing African dance with my drum and dance troupe at Rumbalaha Winery at Stanthorpe, we mingled
with our audience and indulged in dipping fresh fruit under a flowing fountain of dark couverture chocolate!

Where is your favourite place to indulge your choc-habit?
In nature or in an exotic hide away with some one special.

Secretly solo or shared indulgence?
Shared.

Top choice-choc destination?
I love Paris. Every October Paris hosts the 'Le Salon du Chocolat' where all true chocolate lovers visit to enjoy.

Favourite product in the Love Byron Bay Chocolate range?
Wow, that is a hard question…one of my favourites is the 82% Blanxart spanish chocolate, this can be described with the three words listed in question 5.  Another is New Zealand brand Seriously Good Chocolate Companies 63% cocoa chocolate infused with a divine Gibbston Valley Pinot Noir wine. Oh and I love the paradigm shift of pairing cheese with chocolate instead of a cracker.  Shocolate’s chilli and cranberry chocolate combined with a blue cheese is superb. Ok, I’ll stop now.
